Angel Aura Quartz is natural quartz, silicon dioxide of the trigonal system at a Mohs hardness of 7, that has been given a man-made surface enhancement. Platinum and silver are permanently bonded to the crystal surface through vacuum deposition at high temperature, creating a durable iridescent white-to-rainbow coating; the base crystal is natural, while the iridescent surface is a man-made process and is disclosed as such. The permanent nature of this bonding distinguishes it from temporary surface treatments. It has no ancient tradition, being a modern industrial process applied to natural quartz. The base quartz for this material is sourced from Brazil, with the bonding process carried out in a laboratory.
