Lava Stone is a basaltic igneous rock with a Mohs hardness of 5 to 6, formed when basaltic lava cools rapidly at the surface, producing a dark, fine-grained body made up of pyroxene, olivine, and plagioclase feldspar. Its porous, vesicular surface is entirely natural, created by gas bubbles trapped in the lava as it cooled, and it is a natural, untreated material. Lava rock occurs in volcanic regions worldwide, with major commercial sources including Indonesia, Hawaii, Iceland, and Italy.
