Grape Agate Worry Stone cut to a smooth oval with a shallow thumb hollow. The colour is a soft mauve to lavender, some pieces carrying a grey-green cast through the body and others closer to a dusty pink, with the tone shifting across a single face rather than holding uniform. The polish is high and the surface is very smooth to a thumb, with none of the texture the material shows in its uncut botryoidal form.

Geological Information
Grape Agate is a botryoidal purple chalcedony, silicon dioxide within the quartz family, crystallising in the trigonal system at Mohs 7. Despite the trade name it is not a banded agate in the conventional sense: it is a microcrystalline quartz that grows in spherical clusters, and the resemblance of those clusters to bunches of grapes is what the name refers to. The purple to lavender colouring comes from iron and manganese trace content. The material comes exclusively from the island of Sulawesi in Indonesia, which is the sole commercial source, and it carries no ancient tradition, having entered the international crystal market only from around 2016. Sulawesi remains the only origin.
