Hematite Worry Stone - 1.5 inch

A dense, metallic iron oxide worry stone for grounding and balance.
$12.95

Product Description

Hematite Worry Stone cut to an oval with a thumb hollow across one face, finished to a hard metallic shine that reads more like polished steel than like stone. The colour is a dark silver-grey deepening to black at the edges, and the reflection is sharp enough to catch a room in it at the right angle. Individual pieces differ slightly in outline and in how strongly the surface throws light back.

Hematite is used for grounding and for bringing scattered attention back to one place, and it is the stone most often handed to someone who finds lighter materials unconvincing. It is commonly held at the end of a session, carried through a long day, or kept on a desk to close a hand around between tasks. The cold surface takes a while to warm, which is part of what people use it for.

Geological Information
Hematite is iron oxide, Fe2O3, crystallising in the trigonal system at Mohs 5.5 to 6.5, and it is the principal ore of iron as well as the mineral that gives red rock, rust and red ochre their colour. Its name comes from the Greek haema, meaning blood, after the red-brown streak it leaves when scratched across unglazed ceramic, a diagnostic test that works despite the polished stone reading metallic grey. Natural hematite is non-magnetic, which separates it from the magnetic sintered product sold as Hematine or Magnetite. The mineral has one of the longest records of human use of any material, with hematite red ochre found at archaeological sites over 100,000 years old and polished hematite mirrors recovered from ancient Egypt. Commercial material comes from Brazil, Australia, England, the USA and China.

AuturaSol Standard
Each natural stone is selected for its authenticity, geological integrity, and energetic clarity. Natural variations in colour, structure, inclusions, and surface features are inherent to geological materials and contribute to the individuality of each piece. Any known treatments, enhancements, stabilization, or man-made characteristics are clearly disclosed within the product information where applicable. Every piece is inspected and photographed to reflect its true character; however, lighting conditions, screen settings, and natural variation may cause slight differences in appearance. If you have any questions about a piece before completing your purchase, we're always here to help. Where authenticity meets beauty, we tell you exactly what you're holding.
