Brown Zebra Calcite Worry Stone - 1.75-2 inch

Brick and rust bleeding into cream, with no hard edges anywhere
$4.95

Product Description

Brown Zebra Calcite Worry Stone cut to a full oval with a broad thumb hollow. The colour runs from a deep brick red through rust and terracotta into cream, the boundaries between them soft and cloudy rather than sharply drawn, and most pieces carry at least one pale band cutting across the darker ground. The polish is even and the stone has a slight warmth to the touch that the darker marbles do not.

Calcite of this kind is traditionally associated with settling and with holding a steady line, and the warmer red material tends to be chosen by people who find the black and white version too stark. It is commonly kept somewhere it will be picked up without thinking, a bedside table or a coat pocket, rather than set out for display. Across this size range the pieces are large enough that a thumb travels a real distance across the hollow, which is much of what makes the Form work.

Geological Information
Brown Zebra Calcite is a banded calcium carbonate, calcite crystallising in the trigonal system at Mohs 3, and despite the Zebra trade name it is a carbonate rather than any kind of jasper or chalcedony. The red, rust and cream banding on this piece comes from iron oxide layered unevenly through the calcium carbonate matrix, the same mechanism that produces banding in agate but occurring in a calcite host rather than a silica one. At Mohs 3 it sits among the softer materials carried commercially, and the trade name is a modern retail designation with no ancient tradition attached to it. Mexico is the primary commercial source.

AuturaSol Standard
Each natural stone is selected for its authenticity, geological integrity, and energetic clarity. Natural variations in colour, structure, inclusions, and surface features are inherent to geological materials and contribute to the individuality of each piece. Any known treatments, enhancements, stabilization, or man-made characteristics are clearly disclosed within the product information where applicable. Every piece is inspected and photographed to reflect its true character; however, lighting conditions, screen settings, and natural variation may cause slight differences in appearance. If you have any questions about a piece before completing your purchase, we're always here to help. Where authenticity meets beauty, we tell you exactly what you're holding. Brown Zebra Calcite is sensitive to acids and can be damaged by contact with household cleaning products or skincare products.
