Selenite Worry Stone - 1.25-1.5 inch

Soft white gypsum worry stone with a moonlit glow, tied to clarity and calm.
$6.95

Product Description

Selenite Worry Stone cut to an oval with a thumb hollow across one face. The material is a translucent white to near-colourless, and running through it is the fibrous striated structure the mineral is known for, catching light along its length in a silky sheen that shifts as the stone turns. The surface is smooth and unusually warm to first touch, and the piece is very light for its size.

Selenite is traditionally used for mental clarity and for clearing a space, and it is one of the few stones commonly described as needing no clearing itself. It is generally kept somewhere it will not be handled roughly, held during quiet practice, or set out on an altar. The softness means it wants a little more care than a quartz piece would, which is worth knowing before it goes in a pocket with keys.

Geological Information
Selenite is a crystalline variety of gypsum, a calcium sulfate mineral crystallising in the monoclinic system at Mohs 2 to 2.5, which places it among the softest materials in commercial circulation. Its white to colourless body carries a distinctive fibrous striated structure that produces the silky lustre, and the name derives from Selene, the Greek goddess of the moon, after that soft luminosity. Thin selenite slabs were used as window material in ancient Mesopotamia and Rome before glass became widely available, which is an unusually practical historical use for a stone now sold decoratively. The Cave of the Crystals at Naica in Mexico contains selenite crystals exceeding ten metres in length, among the largest mineral crystals ever recorded and discovered only in 2000. Morocco is the primary commercial source, with further material from Mexico, the USA, Poland and Australia.

AuturaSol Standard
Each natural stone is selected for its authenticity, geological integrity, and energetic clarity. Natural variations in colour, structure, inclusions, and surface features are inherent to geological materials and contribute to the individuality of each piece. Any known treatments, enhancements, stabilization, or man-made characteristics are clearly disclosed within the product information where applicable. Every piece is inspected and photographed to reflect its true character; however, lighting conditions, screen settings, and natural variation may cause slight differences in appearance. If you have any questions about a piece before completing your purchase, we're always here to help. Where authenticity meets beauty, we tell you exactly what you're holding.

Care Note
Selenite is water-soluble and can be permanently damaged by water exposure. Keep away from water and store in a dry place. Selenite has natural cleavage planes and can chip or fracture if knocked against a hard surface. Handle with care.
