The Jali Carved Soapstone Multi-Use Burner is a handcrafted black stone piece cut with a diamond jali lattice through its body, built to handle several burning methods in one vessel. It burns charcoal discs with resin incense placed on top of the hot charcoal to release the scent, holds cone or loose incense, and doubles as an oil warmer with a tealight inside; charcoal, resins, incense, and oils are all sold separately.

Soapstone's natural heat resistance is exactly why the material has served as burner stock for centuries, and the pierced jali work lets flame light flicker through the lattice while it works. Geological Information
Soapstone is a talc-schist metamorphic rock, primarily talc with chlorite and micas, rating 1 to 2.5 on the Mohs scale. Its defining commercial property is natural heat resistance, which has made it the traditional material for oil burners, cookware, and mortars across many cultures, while the soft body allows the fine pierced jali carving seen here. The polished surface carries the smooth, soapy feel that gives the stone its name, and body colour varies by locality from grey and green to brown and near-black. Primary sources include Brazil, India, China, Canada, Zimbabwe, and Kenya.

The vessel becomes very hot during use, especially with charcoal; place on a heat-resistant, stable surface away from drafts, flammable materials, and out of reach of children and pets, never leave it burning unattended, and allow it to cool fully before handling or emptying ash.
