Geological Information
Peach Moonstone is orthoclase feldspar with trace iron, crystallising in the monoclinic system at a Mohs hardness of 6 to 6.5. The iron trace produces the warm peach to apricot body colour, while the floating white to blue sheen is adularescence, generated by the same lamellar structure of alternating orthoclase and albite layers found in all moonstone varieties. That is why the glow appears to sit beneath the surface and moves as the stone is tilted. Sri Lanka produces the finest translucent peach material. Peach Moonstone shares the lunar traditions attached to moonstone across South Asian and Western cultures, and its warm colouring has given it a stronger association with nurturing and creative energy in modern practice.
